Sites Referenced in Sample Sites Video

  • Personal Online Portfolio: [ paulnozicka.com ]
  • CSUS v.1: This was the active site when I was hired by CSUS as their webmaster. This is actually the version of the site as it existed once I "massaged" it.

  • CSUS v.2: This was the second redesign I was involved in while at CSUS (the first redesign was not archived). I also designed the complementary template that was used for the internal pages. The tabs also had drop-down menus.

  • CSUS College of Continuing Education Instructor page: [ www.csus.edu/indiv/n/nozicka/ ]
  • SJSU v.1: This was the site that provoked SJSU to hire a webmaster and redesign the site. Just as I did with the CSUS site I inherited I "massaged" this design to make it more usable and accessible (the version here was prior to my "massage").

  • SJSU v.2: The product of the project that was the impetus for SJSU to create a webmaster position. The site was constantly being upgraded and enhanced using a software lifecycle approach. The site when thru extensive product development workshops. More can be read online at www.sjsu.edu/redesign/.

  • SJSU Web Services: This was the unit that I managed and developed. The template used complemented the homepage and top-level template but was used for university sub-sites. The sites were developed and managed via a WYSIWYG inline editor/CMS system. The CMS system generated pages that were Section 508 compliant, has printer-friendly versions and which had a dynamically generated drop-down menu navigation system based on the sites hierarchy.

  • SJSU Login: This page is references simply to show the various web-based services that myself and my unit brought online for the campus community. Once SJSU's LDAP was in place single sign-on would be possible.

  • SJSU University Experts: An opt-in system for faculty to identify themselves as university experts. Data was pulled from existing authoritative databases. New screens were implemented in PeopleSoft for data that needed to be captured. All this data was aggregated, standardized, and placed into a database to warehouse it. This data was then used for the various web-based services we developed. The other part of this project was a faculty publications database which was a self-service module for faculty to maintain a listing of their publications.

  • Horner Junior High 7th Grade Core: This was a demo site I developed for my girlfriends 7th grade class she use to teach in Fremont. Just a SJSU implemented a CMS for faculty web pages I believe a district can do the same for their faculty from a single central web application for any number of faculty.

  • UCDavis University Writing Program: This is a before and after comparison of the UWP website that I rencently "massaged." The intent was to make it more visually engaging, to add news and events, to clean up the design and layout and to do so without causing users to re-learn how to use the site. The next step is a complete redesign, in preparation for which I am currently gathering data on site usage via various methods.

  • The .EDU Group: This is a consulting group that I envisioned and defined but which has yet to become a functioning business entity. However, it illustrates my dedicated experience and primary focus on EdWeb (for lack of a better term). I was also responsible for developing the identity and brand for The .EDU Group.
